500 days Of Baahubali
“What’s great about making movies is the sort of additive process of bringing people together and having an idea and watching the idea be added to, and at the end you have this thing.” said Laura Ziskin.
This encapsulates the journey of Baahubali. It all started with an idea, with the desire to make it happen. What followed, was years of hard work and dedication. What we had at the end was a film that transcended generations and cultures, Baahubali – The Beginning.
It’s delightful that this 21st November 2016 marks 500 days since the release of Baahubali – The Beginning! We are happy that India’s largest motion picture, Baahubali still continues to enthrall audiences around the world.,
To mark this occasion, let’s take a walk down memory lane, and look at some of our moments that made it the journey it was!
Post it’s release on July 10th 2015, Baahubali – The Beginning has been recognized nationally, as well as internationally, for its cutting edge technology and path breaking cinema.
The release came with unprecedented response and accolades. With a blockbuster opening and the best of reviews and ratings, Baahubali – The Beginning became the highest grossing Indian film within India and the third highest grossing Indian film globally.
The film, breaking all language and generational barriers, has been recognized by regional and national film award associations for the performances of the cast, outstanding direction, music, special effects, and as an overall film.
Among the various awards received, our biggest compliment was being awarded the Golden Lotus at the 63rd National Film Awards, for the category of Best Feature Film! This was the first time a Telugu movie won in the Feature Film category in the National Awards.
The film made its mark internationally, by releasing in China, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Philippines, France, Germany and multiple South American countries.
From our debut at the Marche du Film, at the Cannes International Film Festival, Baahubali – The Beginning has also been screened at a multitude of International Film Festivals across the globe.
The International version of the film, was screened at – Busan International Film Festival, Sitges Film Festival, Nantes Utopiales Film Festival, Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival.
From a standing ovation in France to sold-out screens in Korea, Baahubali was well received by the international audiences too!
Further, the movie was also nominated for the 10th Asian Film awards and 42nd Saturn awards.
From being the only film that has been featured on BBC documentary on 100 years of Indian cinema even before its release to holding a Guinness World Record for the world’s largest poster of 51,000 square feet, Baahubali – The Beginning surely broke many records and is regarded as one of the greatest Indian Epic ever!
After the release of the first part of the magnum opus, the team has been rigorously working towards developing The World Of Baahubali.
The world of Baahubali has many branches to it, each telling a unique story and creating a new experience of its own. Apart from the two part movie installment, Baahubali has also ventured into Virtual Reality, Graphic Novels, Animation, Novel Trilogy, Gaming, Licensing, Merchandising and a lot more.
Baahubali and Arka Mediaworks have partnered with AMD Radeon Technologies Group for the Baahubali Virtual Reality experiences.The aim is to increase the intensity and scale of epic film experiences through Virtual Reality.
While debuting the Baahubali VR booth at the Cannes, the teaser of the much awaited “The Sword Of Baahubali” was revealed at the Jio MAMI 18th Mumbai Film Festival, Mumbai. To achieve the experience envisioned, a special camera, the BB360cc was built exclusively to shoot the Baahubali Virtual Reality Experience, The Sword Of Baahubali. Also at the event were, SS Rajamouli, Shobu Yarlagadda, Prabhas, Tamannaah & Anushka to unveil the First Look and the Motion poster of Baahubali – The Conclusion.
A 360 degree VR experience, On the sets of Baahubali, was made available on YouTube!
Team Baahubali has also partnered with Graphic India to extend the world of Baahubali into graphic novels, animation, and video games. The exclusive preview of our first issue of our Graphic Novel, “Baahubali – Battle Of The Bold” was released on Facebook.
As the latest addition, the team has ventured into the Licensing and Merchandising of brand Baaahubali with Black White Orange Brands Pvt. Ltd as our Licensing partner for Baahubali. With this partnership we hope to allow everyone to take home a little bit of Baahubali.
In the works are also a novel trilogy by Anand Neelakantan, and a live action series with a major network.
With all of this, we can proudly say Baahubali is India’s first tent- pole franchise!
The aim is to create a larger than life, immersive experience with – The World of Baahubali!
The icing on the cake was news of Prabhas’ wax statue, in his iconic Baahubali Costume, which will be unveiled in Madame Tussauds Bangkok in March 2017, subsequent to which it will be toured around the world!
That’s been the past 500 days – A monumental journey for us at Baahubali. A big thank you to everyone who has been a part of this whirlwind journey… this is just The Beginning!!
