Baahubali made quite the splash at Marche du Film of the prestigious Cannes Film Festival this year! The Marche du Film is one of the largest film markets in the world, established in 1959. The platform gives opportunities for filmmakers from different continents to present their films to an international film audience. This year, Baahubali joined the ranks!
Apart from the market screening of the movie, Team Baahubali also took part in a panel discussion with Raja Koduri, Senior VP at AMD Radeon Technology Group, hosted by Patrick Frater, Asia Bureau Chief of Variety at the NEXT Pavilion. Launched as a unique venue where participants can experiment, and showcase new models in film, NEXT has grown into an established and privileged hub for innovators to showcase the latest trends in technology, films, and production.
The topic of discussion was “Increasing the intensity and scale of epic film experiences through VR”. The panel discussion was live streamed from Cannes, France, on the official Facebook page of Baahubali, getting over 80,000 viewers! The discussion included a live question-answer session with viewers from Facebook. S.S Rajamouli also spoke about his inspiration to make a VR film for Baahubali, revolving around the same characters, but telling a completely different story. The makers of Baahubali are aiming for an early 2017 release of the VR movie, before part 2 of the epic, Baahubali – The Conclusion hits theaters!
Baahubali in association with AMD RTG, also set up a virtual reality booth featuring a Paranormal Activity demo, as a preview to what the Baahuabli VR movie might look like! AMD has driven innovation in high-performance computing, graphics, and visualization technologies for over 45 years ― the building blocks for gaming, immersive platforms, and data centers. The Radeon Technologies Group is now an autonomous graphics division, part of the AMD group, with Raja Koduri, leading it!
